Roof Replacement Case Studies: HVAC Copper Line Problem - Roof Replacement in Lawrenceville, GA

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015 by Jason Bonner

I went into the attic as I do on all jobs. I was looking for the HVAC copper line to make sure we would notshoot a nail though it. The copper line was behin a trey ceiling running through a roof joist cavity. There was no way to see it nor move it out of the way. We were scared that we would hit it and have to get a HVAC contracto there to cut drywall, repair line, install drywall back, and paint. This would have been a $1200 repair when it was all said and done.

We decided to run a 2x4 down the top of the trey ceiling in attic between the line and the plywood in the cavity. This way we could nail the shingles down and not worry about the line getting hit. We succeeded with no problems. Thanks to the patience of the home owner and Greg Raynor the job ran smoothly.
